ONE YEAR OF COMMUNITY, SERVING, AND TRAINING
God is at work in the city of Buffalo. BUMP invites young adults to come to Buffalo for a year, live in community, train in ministry, and use their strengths and passions to serve at a non-profit organization or local church, furthering the Kingdom of God in Buffalo.
The BUMP commitment goes from September 1st to August 31st. Participants receive a living stipend and live in BUMP housing.
LIVING IN COMMUNITY
BUMP participants live in the Loretto Rectory, a large beautiful home on Buffalo's Westside. Participants live in community with others doing BUMP.
Participants also meet with a one-on-one mentor and get involved in the spiritual and community life of a local church. There are also two BUMP retreats.
SERVING THE CITY
Each BUMP participant serves 35 hours a week with a Christian non-profit, community development organization, or local church, using their unique skills and passions for the Kingdom of God.
Placements include ESL, urban farming, medical work, accounting, marketing, job training, education, anti-human trafficking, refugee services, church ministries, and more. See our Job Placements page for the current list.
TRAINING IN KINGDOM MINISTRY
Every Tuesday from 9:00-11:00 am, BUMP participants engage in the BUMP class and receive training in kingdom ministry. Classes involve guest speakers, dialogue, interactive texts, and presentations. A team of pastors and community leaders lead the classes and discussion.
The BUMP Curriculum includes the following topics: Kingdom of God, Scripture, Incarnational Ministry, Ecclesiology, and Vocation and Discernment. See the BUMP Curriculum here.
