ONE YEAR OF COMMUNITY, SERVING, AND TRAINING
God is at work in the city of Buffalo. BUMP invites young adults to come to Buffalo for a year, live in community, train in ministry, and use their strengths and passions to serve at a non-profit organization or local church, furthering the Kingdom of God in Buffalo.
The BUMP commitment goes from September 1st to August 31st. Participants receive a living stipend and live in BUMP housing.
LIVING IN COMMUNITY
BUMP participants live in the Loretto Rectory, a large beautiful home on Buffalo's Westside. Participants live in community with others doing BUMP.
Participants also meet with a one-on-one mentor and get involved in the spiritual and community life of a local church. There are also two BUMP retreats.
SERVING THE CITY
Each BUMP participant serves 35 hours a week with a Christian non-profit, community development organization, or local church, using their unique skills and passions for the Kingdom of God.
Placements include ESL, urban farming, medical work, accounting, marketing, film, job training, education, anti-human trafficking, refugee services, church ministries, and more. See our Job Placements page for the current list.
TRAINING IN KINGDOM MINISTRY
Every Tuesday from 9:00-11:00 am, BUMP participants engage in the BUMP class and receive training in kingdom ministry. Classes involve guest speakers, dialogue, interactive texts, and presentations. Three pastors, from the Buffalo Vineyard Church, Village Church, and Lafayette Presbyterian Church, lead the classes and discussion.
The BUMP Curriculum includes the following topics: Kingdom of God, Scripture, Incarnational Ministry, Ecclesiology, and Vocation and Discernment. See the BUMP Curriculum here.
